Council Elections

The Chartered College of Teaching is seeking committed professionals to join the Council, where your expertise will drive meaningful change across the entire profession. The College is looking for committed people to guide the strategic direction and ensure every membership has maximum impact.

Being a Council member offers you the opportunity to share your insight and experiences, learn from other educators and expand your professional networks.

For the 2025 election, Members (including those paying the ECT rate of Full Membership) and Fellows can stand for one of six Council member positions. Fellows are also able to stand for one of two Vice President positions.

The results will be announced at the Chartered College of Teaching’s online Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 12th November.

Being part of the Chartered College gives me a chance to network more widely, with colleagues in different parts of education. Whether than be in different sectors, or in MATs, or in different professional bodies. It enables me to more deeply appreciate the wonderful things that are going on within education, and how we are all working in our different ways to transform the lives of young people.

Our approach to equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI)

The Chartered College is committed to developing a culture which values diversity in experience and thought. We know that organisations can’t grow or prosper if everyone within them thinks the same, acts the same, has the same experience and same interests. By being open to new ideas and new ways of thinking we are stronger, united and more successful, and more representative of the education sector. We welcome nominations for the election from all Members and Fellows, and in particular from Members and Fellows from underrepresented groups

As part of our commitment, we produce an annual EDI action plan which takes stock of our progress so far and details our priorities in each year. We have a diversity and accessibility working group which helps progress this plan and coordinate activity across the organisation. The Council’s Diversity and Inclusion Group reviews the work of the Council and the employee team in relation to diversity and inclusion.
