Chartered Status

Chartered Teacher Status is a professional accreditation that recognises the knowledge, skills and behaviours of highly accomplished teachers, school-based mentors and school leaders, offering a career pathway that is focused on developing and recognising high-quality teaching, mentoring and leadership practice.

As a professional accreditation, Chartered Status builds on individual practice, priorities and interests and can be undertaken at your own pace, up to three years. You can find further information on what is involved, eligibility and other key information by downloading our Chartered Status brochure on our main website here

Choose the path that's right for you and your role

There are currently three pathways available to work towards Chartered Teacher Status:

  1. Chartered Teacher pathway – for practising teachers and middle leaders
  2. Chartered Teacher (Leadership) pathway – for practising school leaders with whole-school or cross-school responsibility
  3. Chartered Teacher (Mentor) pathway – for practising school-based mentors working with classroom teachers

You will need to ensure you are eligible for the pathway before registering.

Recognition of Prior Certified Learning (RPCL)

Recognition of Prior Certificated Learning provides a means by which candidates may use previous relevant qualifications and professional learning that we have formally recognised, as credit towards achieving Chartered Status.  You can find full details by download our key information document which details the qualifications you may be able to apply for exemption from and the applicable conditions.

Please note that we are unfortunately unable to recognise qualifications outside of those listed.
