Increasing Diversity in Initial Teacher Training – Module 1: Recruitment

Course information

In this module, you will explore the systemic barriers that affect the recruitment and retention of global majority heritage candidates, including unconscious bias and linguistic discrimination. Through critical evaluation of real recruitment practices, you will develop inclusive strategies covering outreach, assessment and selection, and learn to use data and research to inform practical changes that foster equity, representation and belonging. You will also have the opportunity to audit your own approach, identifying your strengths and areas for growth.
