Practical policies or Bright ideas? How particular topics get to the front of the policy queue

Policy, practice and research all play an important part in helping the education system run well, yet they do not always agree on the issues that require the most urgent attention or the practical steps necessary to make things happen. This panel discussion will consider why building a consensus between these groups seems so difficult, and what more could be done to take into account the very different knowledge and interests each brings to the table.

The panel will discuss specific examples that highlight some of the difficulties in research, policy and practice working together, and consider how they might find more productive ways of engaging with each other.
