Webinar: Keeping student creativity flowing through non-digital remote learning
In a project funded by the Helen Hamlyn Trust, the Chartered College of Teaching has published a variety of resources for practitioners to support in encouraging creativity and independent remote learning through a non-digital offer.
To launch this project, we hosted an online event where we shared information on the resources available, and heard from professionals who have written compact guides as part of the resource package.

About our speakers
Prof. Teresa Cremin
Professor of Education, The Open University
Teresa Cremin is Professor of Education (Literacy) at The Open University. An ex-teacher and ITE tutor, Teresa now undertakes research and consultancy in the UK and abroad. Her research focuses mainly on volitional reading and writing, teachers’ literate identities and practices and creative pedagogies.
Her recent books include Children Reading for Pleasure in the Digital Age (with N. Kucirkova, Sage, 2019), Writer Identity and the Teaching and Learning of Writing; Storytelling in Early Childhood: Enriching Language, Literacy and Culture, (Routledge, 2017, edited collections).
A Fellow of the English Association, the Academy of Social Sciences, and the Royal Society of the Arts, Teresa is currently a chair of DfEDepartment for Education - a ministerial department responsible for children’s services and education in England Reading for pleasure sub-committee and a Trustee of the UK Literacy Association. Teresa is passionate about developing readers for life and leads a professional user-community website and wider movement to support the development of children’s and teachers’ reading for pleasure

Gemma Goldenberg
Research and learning specialist, PhD researcher, Chartered College of Teaching
Gemma Goldenberg worked for 16 years as a primary school teacher and Assistant Headteacher in London, before leaving to start her PhD, which explores the impact of natural outdoor environments on children’s cognition, stress and behaviour. Gemma also works part time for the Chartered College and co-authored the recent ‘Education in times of crisis’ series of reports. Gemma has 3 sons who she likes to get outdoors as much as possible, they can often be found covered in mud at their local forest.

Dr Steven Berryman FCCT
Director: Arts & Culture, Odyssey Trust for Education
Dr Steven Berryman is Director (Arts & Culture) at Odyssey Trust for Education and a Visiting Research Fellow at King’s College, London, and Guildhall School. He is a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching, Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors and the Royal Society Art. Steven contributes widely to arts and cultural education through advisory panel and trustee roles, including being a governor for a primary and secondary school. For the Cultural Learning Alliance he is a member of the Advisory Panel, recently chairing a group working on CPDL routes for cultural learning professionals. He is Curriculum Lead for the Music Teachers Association and sits on the Education Committee of the Worshipful Company of Educators in addition to chairing the Arts and Cultural Education Special Interest Group for the company. In January 2021 Steven launched a Local Cultural Education Partnership for Bexley, working with partners in and beyond the borough supported by A New Direction Challenge London funding.
