AI has already changed how millions of people work. It is now beginning to change how they learn, and the shift is uneven. Personalised, mastery-based tutoring is finally affordable at scale. It is the most effective form of learning we know of, and for a hundred years it has been out of reach for all but a few. What athletics has always done through coaching, motivation, and mastery of the fundamentals, education can now do for every learner. Yet a growing body of research suggests that heavy AI use may weaken the very capacities schools exist to build: memory, critical reasoning, independent thought. Both stories are true, unfolding side by side.
What we do about this will shape education for the next generation of learners, teachers, and institutions. In this session, Dr. Arjun Jain explores what it takes to unlock a learner’s potential in the age of AI. How do we combine high standards with real support? How do we fill the gaps, and design lessons around the learner rather than the classroom? And what must we protect as the ground shifts beneath us?
Speaker bio:
Dr. Arjun Jain is the Founder & CEO of FastCode AI, which he founded and scaled from 8 to 50+ people, delivering enterprise AI solutions across industries including Aramco, Mercedes-Benz, Bosch, and the Volkswagen Group. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the Max Planck Institute, Germany, and completed his postdoc working with Yann LeCun. He was previously Assistant Professor at IIT Bombay and is currently Adjunct Faculty at IISc Bangalore. His research in AI and computer vision has earned 8,000+ citations across 50+ papers and 5 patents. Earlier in his career he worked as a Senior Scientist, Software Developer, and R&D Developer, and co-founded a startup that was acquired by Mercedes-Benz.
