In this webinar jointly hosted by the Chartered College and Steplab, Cat Scutt and Josh Goodrich will be taking a closer look at instructional coaching and how school leaders can harness it as a powerful tool for teacher – and school – development. They will consider some common challenges around implementation of instructional coaching and how these can be overcome. They will also introduce new developments for teachers working with the Steplab platform, including a route to achieving Chartered Status.
Josh Goodrich is a founder and CEO of Steplab, an organisation that supports schools to implement effective instructional coaching. He is driven by the belief that teacher coaching can develop great teachers and, in turn, transform the life chances of students. Josh has previously worked as an English teacher, school leader, and Teaching and Learning lead for a group of 50 schools across the UK. He’s currently serving as the Deputy Principal of a school in London
Cat Scutt MBE, Director for Education and Research, Chartered College of Teaching – A former English teacher, Cat’s roles have since focused on supporting teacher development both online and through face-to-face activities, with a particular focus on development through collaboration and through engagement with research and evidence. Cat leads on the Chartered College of Teaching’s work around teacher development and certification, including the Chartered Teacher programme, and their research activities and publications, including their award-winning peer-reviewed journal, Impact. She received an MBE for services to education in 2021 and has been a member of several government advisory groups.

Impact is the termly journal of the Chartered College of Teaching. It connects research findings to classroom practice, with a focus on the interests and voices of teachers and educators. It supports the teaching community by promoting discussion around evidence within the classroom, and enabling teachers to share and reflect on their own use of research.
