Nearly a decade on from the Ethical Leadership Commission, we are delighted to offer you the opportunity to meet with Carolyn Roberts (who led the commission), to (re)discover the framework and discuss how it fits into today’s education assessment system.

Carolyn Roberts MBE retired in August 2024 after 23 years of headship, in Hartlepool, Durham and Greenwich after teaching in Birmingham, Leicestershire, Durham, London, and Sunderland. She was chair of the broad-based Ethical Leadership Commission from 2017-19, and is secretary to its successor body, the Ethical Leadership Alliance. She read Theology at King’s College London followed by a PGCE at Birmingham and MA at Durham. She is a Founding Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching and has been PTI Co-Director since 2019. Carolyn is co-author of Knowledge and the Future School (2014) and wrote Ethical Leadership for a Better Education System (2019). A regular speaker at conferences and on radio and television, she has also contributed to the Sunday Times and the Guardian. She was awarded an MBE in the 2025 Birthday Honours List.
