CT3 Education Research and Enquiry

Suitable for: Practising classroom teachers and middle leaders (practising school leaders in senior leadership positions should undertake the Education Research and Enquiry (Leadership) instead).

The Education Research and Enquiry unit has been developed specifically for practising classroom teachers and middle leaders. The programme will guide you through the process of practitioner enquiry, supporting you to plan and implement an evidence-informed enquiry focused on classroom practice or a key area of school policy or practice.

You will choose a broad focus for your enquiry, either identifying a potential change to address a challenge and improve outcomes (action research), or evaluating an existing practice to better understand its effectiveness. You will undertake a literature review, develop your understanding of research methods and approaches to analysing data, and carry out your enquiry project. Finally, you will present your findings as either: a written journal article, recorded video or research poster and critical evaluation.

Please note: It is a requirement of this assessment that you discuss the ethical implications of carrying out your project with your headteacher and gain your school’s approval prior to commencing your enquiry.
