You will engage with research and evidence to build your understanding of effective practice in relation to your chosen pedagogical focus. You’ll then dedicate time to apply what you have learnt utilising deliberate practice, a high-impact professional development approach centred around taking practical action in your classroom; you will identify clear goals that will help you to systematically hone your skills and embed your chosen approach within your teaching, adding to your pedagogical repertoire.

What does the Assessment Unit include?:
As part of the supporting content for this assessment unit, you will have access to a short online course that will help you to familiarise yourself with the evidence around development of teacher expertise and guide you through the process of deliberate practice, alongside reading lists and exemplars. You will also gain complimentary access to IRIS Connect software to support you to record, reflect on and analyse your practice.
What does the assessment cover?:
You will submit a portfolio for formal assessment, which will include an evidence-informed action plan, two deliberate practice reflections and a recorded presentation.
