As a Trainee Teacher, I found this webinar really helpful. Although watching the recorded version, this still gave an insight. As I enter my second placement, I have really realised what was meant by the ups and downs, especially within my first placement. I have certainly had a few wobbles. I think your first few months let you recognise what to take forward in your next placement. Being confident in asking for advice and getting the advice to act upon. Everyone is really there to support you.
Making the most of observations is key, watch those expert others as much as you really can. See as much as you can across all ages, stages and subjects.
As for books, the one I have found helpful so far has been, The Trainee Teacher′s Handbook by Carol Thompson.
