Carl Ward FCCT

Chief Executive, Foundation for Education Development

Carl is Chief Executive of the City Learning Trust; a 3 to 19 MATMulti-academy trust - a group of schools working in collaboration, governed by a single set of members and directors in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire and Chair of the Foundation for Education Development. He has regional, national and international experience in leadership development and school to school improvement and has supported national and international projects and conferences for a range of organisations.

Professor Dame Alison Peacock

Chief Executive, Chartered College of Teaching

Prior to becoming CEO of the Chartered College of Teaching, Professor Dame Alison Peacock was Executive Headteacher of The Wroxham School in Hertfordshire. Her career to date has spanned primary, secondary and advisory roles. In 2018, she became an Honorary Fellow of Queen’s College, Cambridge, one of the first ever female Fellows admitted. She is also a Visiting Professor of both the University of Hertfordshire and Glyndwr University.

Amjad Ali

Co-founder, BAMEed; Teacher; Trainer; Senior Leader; TEDx Speaker

Amjad Ali is a teacher, trainer, TEDx speaker and Senior Leader. He currently works four days a week in a startup secondary school and offers CPD/INSET on his other day. Amjad has spent his teaching career working in challenging, diverse schools. He is a qualified SENDCO and was also trained as an Advanced Skills Teacher in Teaching and Learning. Before stepping into the world of education, he spent time as Play Worker and Teaching AssistantAn adult that assists a teacher in the classroom in Young Offender Prisons.

Amjad is the co-founder of the Charity the BAMEed Network- #BAMEed a grass-roots movement aimed at ensuring our diverse communities are represented as a substantive part of the education workforce for teachers and leaders in education.

For Amjad, education is about ensuring wherever you come from, whatever your parents do or not do, does not impact on a students’ potential of success. Whatever success means to that young person, it should be found and celebrated.

Vivienne Porritt FCCT

Co-founder and Strategic Leader, WomenEd; Vice President, Chartered College of Teaching; Council Member, Foundation for Education Development

FED Council Member: Vivienne Porritt is a speaker and a leadership consultant supporting school and trust leaders with vision, strategy, professional learning and development, and impact evaluation.

Vivienne is currently one of the Co-founders and Strategic Leaders of WomenEd, a global not-for-profit community that supports and empowers aspiring and existing women leaders in education. Vivienne is also Vice President of the Chartered College of Teaching and a Member for a trust in East London.

Previously, Vivienne has been a secondary headteacher, Director for School Partnerships at UCL Institute of Education, and a Chair of Governors. She is a writer for tes and academic journals as well as being the co-author of Effective Practices in Continuing Professional Development: Lessons from Schools (IOE, 2009), 10%braver: Inspiring Women to Lead Education (Sage, 2019) and Being 10%braver (Sage, 2020).

Rae Snape FCCT

Headteacher, The Spinney Primary School

Rae is a Headteacher and National Leader of Education at Milton Road Primary School, Cambridge and a Fellow of The Chartered College of Teaching. Rae describes being a headteacher as the best job in the world! Interested in policy and passionate (some might say obsessed) about education, Rae was a member of the Primary Headteachers’ Reference Group at the Department of Education for 9 years. Rae is a co-founder of the Cambridgeshire Festival of Education and of MyCambridge Cultural Education Partnership. Rae is the first ever Ambassador for Smiley Education Talks. Rae has contributed to several books on education and is currently writing “The Headteacher’s Handbook” for Bloomsbury which will be published later this year. With an ambition to #NetworkTheNetworks Rae has recently joined the Foundation for Education Development as a member of the executive team.
