Often, those engaged in the application or translation of educational theory into practice emphasise the importance of establishing the ‘usefulness’ of these theoretical claims and their associated research evidence. In their book What Does This Look Like in the Classroom? (2017), Hendrick and Macpherson argue that ‘for education research to have an impact where it matters most, it should be accessible, relevant and above all practicable’ (p. 17).
