The issue will include discussions of how to foster inclusive learning environments, how to adopt adaptive classroom practices, how to support all students through excellent SEND provision, how to build effective approaches to support student mental health, as well as supporting beginner and early career teachers to develop inclusive teaching practices.

Speakers:
Laura Horton – Pastoral Support Manager, Central Foundation Girls’ School
Laura is currently the Pastoral Support Manager at an inner London secondary state school. She brings over a decade of experience in education as a teacher and school leader, having worked as a history teacher and head of year in an outer London secondary school, and then going on to become head of sixth form and serving as assistant headteacher. Laura holds a BA in History and a PGCE in Secondary History from the University of York. Her professional interests lie in integrating pedagogical research, such as Rosenshine’s principles, with trauma-informed practice, with a strong focus on reducing school exclusions while ensuring that all students can access the full breadth of the mainstream school experience.
Mark Leswell – Research Lead, Swale Academies Trust
Mark Leswell is the Trust Research Lead at Swale Academies Trust, driving research-informed strategies to embed sustainable school improvement across the trust. His work focuses on closing the gap between evidence and practice to benefit schools in varied contexts.
