Avanti’s vision for education, outlined in ‘The Avanti Way’ (Avanti Schools Trust, nd), gives equal emphasis to spiritual insight, character formation and educational excellence. Developing a MAT framework for learning and teaching that could be implemented across all our schools, through the lens of the Avanti Way, has proven a valuable opportunity. We have been able to harness the power of our teachers, and support their continuous development, by providing a MAT-wide approach to classroom practice that gives us a shared language through which to discuss learning and teaching across all our schools. The resulting model provides an evidence-informed approach to teacher development applicable at all scales and across all phases and subjects.
