About the speakers

Jonny Uttley, Chief Executive Officer, The Education Alliance Multi-Academy Trust
Jonny is the CEO of The Education Alliance, a Multi-Academy Trust of six schools and a SCITT in East Yorkshire and Hull, and was previously Head Teacher of South Hunsley School. As a National Leader of Education, he has worked with schools in many different contexts and is committed to a school improvement approach that puts ethical leadership at the heart of our system so schools create cultures in which staff genuinely thrive. The Education Alliance is a pathfinder trust for the ASCL/NGA ethical leadership project and Jonny speaks on school improvement, school culture and ethical leadership. His first book, “Putting Staff First: A Blueprint For Revitalising Our Schools”, co-written with John Tomsett, has just been published.

Stef Edwards is the trust leader of Learn Academies Trust – a Diocese of Leicester mixed C of E and community Multi-Academy Trust of 10 primaries based in South Leicestershire. Stef has been in primary education since 1986. A primary teacher and English specialist, she was headteacher of Great Bowden Church of England Academy for 11 years until being appointed to the role of Trust Leader of Learn-AT in 2017. Stef is a National Leader of Education and has had a career-long commitment to research-informed professional learning. Building on her Master’s in Education Research Inquiry, she is currently undertaking a professional doctorate (EdD) investigating the leadership of teachers’ professional learning through Collaborative Lesson Research (Lesson Study) across networks of schools. Stef is a Founding Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching and a passionate advocate for the noble profession.
