Embedding a culture of research: Contexts and challenges

This discussion, based on some of the key themes of Autumn’s issue of Impact, will ask the big questions about research and the teaching profession, with a focus on the robustness, reliability and relevance of research findings for varied education settings and the children they serve.

Our guest-editor-led panel will be made up of Issue 22 authors who have wide-ranging experience spanning both teaching and research backgrounds. They unite in this event to examine the nuances, strengths and limitations of varying approaches to applying research findings in classroom contexts.

Tara Kiran Kurre
Tara is a teacher educator at Azim Premji University, Bangalore, where she teaches courses on science pedagogy, curriculum, and assessment to Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) students (a teacher certification program in India). In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she is part of the university’s professional practice team, supervising student teachers during their school internships. Tara also conducts workshops for public and private school science teachers to enhance their science teaching capacities.

Claire Badger
Claire Badger is the assistant head, teaching and learning at The Godolphin and Latymer School in London, a position she has held since 2015. She holds a Masters in teaching and learning from UCL’s Institute of Education and is fascinated by how research from cognitive science can help us all become better teachers and learners. She is a founding fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching and was part of the first cohort to complete the CTeach (Leadership) course in 2022. She is currently writing a book on Creativity and Cognitive Science with Jonathan Firth, edited by InnerDrive.
