Our Presenters
Aimée Tinkler FCCT – Head of School and KS1 teacher (Carsington and Hopton CofE Primary School)
Aimée has been a teacher for almost 20 years and currently teaches in a mixed KS1 class in a small village Primary school in rural Derbyshire where she is also Head of School. She is an active Specialist Leader in Education and Evidence Leader in Education and enjoys working with colleagues and student teachers on their path through the profession. Aimée has wide-ranging experience of working within all Primary ages and has held leadership positions in a range of schools in both urban and rural locations. Aimée is a Founding Fellow of the Chartered College and currently chairs the Membership Committee and sits on the Council.
Katie Coombe – Network Lead, Teaching Rural Network and Head of Academy (Charleton and West Alvington), Learning Academy Partnership SW
Katie Coombe is Head Teacher of two small Church of England schools, Charleton and West Alvington, in the beautiful South Hams area of Devon. Both schools are part of the Learning Academy Partnership SW Trust. Her schools work closely together in hubs to share expertise, provide staff development and enhance the opportunities offered to children.
Over the course of Katie’s career, she has had the opportunity to support schools in her role as an SLE (Specialist Leader of Education). Having held senior leadership roles in several Primary schools in the UK and a British International school in Spain, Katie has built a broad understanding of the work of successful schools in different contexts.
Mike Sheridan – Ofsted Regional Director, London
Mike Sheridan took up his post as Regional Director, London on 1 September 2015. Previously, Mike was a senior HMI and operational lead for the South East of England.
Mike first joined Ofsted as a seconded headteacher in 2007 and then went on to be appointed as one of Her Majesty’s Inspectors in 2009. He is a qualified teacher and, prior to being employed by Ofsted, held several leadership roles. Most recently he was the headteacher of a federation of schools. Alongside headship, Mike has worked as a consultant and a trainer for heads and teachers. He has particular expertise in teaching and the impact leadership structures have on raising standards.
Lee Owston – HMI, Deputy Director, Cross Remit Education, Education Directorate
Lee Owston is one of Her Majesty’s Inspectors (HMI) and Deputy Director for Cross Remit Education. He is responsible for monitoring the implementation of Ofsted’s inspection frameworks and leading the programme of improvements that emerge from this process, including oversight of Ofsted’s Teacher Development (ITE, ECF and NPQs) and SEND inspection frameworks.
Lee is a qualified teacher and holds post-graduate qualifications in educational leadership and management. Before joining Ofsted, he held senior leadership positions in schools, local authorities and national organisations. Lee regularly leads section 5 and section 8 inspections of Primary and Secondary schools, including the monitoring of schools in categories of concern.
