Rethinking the curriculum – Making your curriculum choices ambitious

This webinar series launches an extensive project for the Chartered College, Rethinking Curriculum. The project aims to support and equip teachers and school leaders with the knowledge and skills to identify, plan and implement curriculum development work in a sustainable, context specific and impactful approach. This will mean that all pupils will have access to an expansive, inspiring curriculum that connects them with local communities and enables them to lead healthy, fulfilled lives.

Our webinar series brings together teachers from a range of settings to consider their curriculum and how the work of our experts could develop their work further. Our series of 3 webinars will cover:

Event attendees will have access not just to the events but to supporting materials and resources in order to start discussions in their settings.

In this last session you will hear from Mary Myatt FCCT – education adviser, writer and speaker.

Mary Myatt FCCT is an education adviser, writer and speaker. She trained as an RE teacher and is a former local authority adviser and inspector. She engages with pupils, teachers and leaders about learning, leadership and the curriculum. Mary has written extensively about leadership, school improvement and the curriculum: ‘High Challenge, Low Threat’, ‘Hopeful Schools’ and ‘The Curriculum: Gallimaufry to Coherence’, ‘Back on Track’, ‘Huh: Curriculum conversations between subject and senior leaders’ and ‘Primary Huh: Curriculum conversations with subject leaders in primary schools’ with John Tomsett. She has established Myatt & Co, an online platform with films for ongoing professional development and the Huh Academy with John Tomsett. Mary has been a governor in three schools, and a trustee for a Multi Academy Trust. She maintains that there are no quick fixes and that great outcomes for pupils are not achieved through tick boxes.

The session will be hosted by Katy Chedzey from the Chartered College of Teaching and will include the opportunity for attendees to pose their own questions to Mary about her experiences.

Katy Chedzey is Head of Professional Learning and Accreditation at the Chartered College of Teaching and leads on design and development of our professional learning and Chartered pathways. Prior to joining the College, Katy was a teacher and deputy headteacher, leading on teaching and learning, curriculum and assessment across EYFS and primary phases.
