In this talk Zoe will be exploring what the work of David Berliner and others tells us about teacher expertise and the challenges around this. She will then explore how we can make use of research and evidence about learning in order to improve the CPD offer for our more experienced members of staff.
Zoe began her career as a learning support assistant, was a classroom teacher for 20 years, a leader of English, media, film and drama and a senior leader responsible for Teaching and Learning and CPD.
Since leaving the classroom she has worked as a school improvement advisor across Kent, a content writer for the Teacher Development Trust, a visiting fellow for the Ambition Institute, an Evidence Lead in Education for the EEF and a mentor for Chartered College of Teachers courses. She also spent two years working as Ofsted’s subject lead for Secondary English and Drama and an HMI.
Zoe currently works for The Education Partnership Trust as their School Improvement Lead, a trust which includes mainstream primary and secondary schools as well as alternative provisions and a special school.
She has written three books: The CPD Curriculum, Generative Learning in Action and Bringing Forth the Bard. Her next release ‘How they do it’ is due for release later in the year. She is a regular author for TES.
