Developing DIALLS: Case study 1

This case study is the first of three, shared as part of the bitesize CPD unit on developing cultural literacy through dialogue. We recommend that you read the introductory section of this unit before engaging with the case studies.  Katie Crockford Morris, Head of Year 5 and 6, primary school in Wales   We are a large primary school in an area of high deprivation in Wales. All three classes in Years 5 and 6 have completed the Cultural Literacy Learning Programme (CLLP) for Key Stage 2, undertaking one lesson per week with the Head of Year 5 and 6. We decided to participate in the DIALLS programme because we were developing our new Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) curriculum. The elements of tolerance, acceptance and equity, which are emphasised in the RSE Curriculum, are also stressed in the DIALLS programme.
